 Direct pulp capping and Indirect pulp capping 

What is direct pulp caping ?

Being a dentist if your pulp is exposed by trauma or by accident of any treatment or by carries you save it by direct pulp capping . The aim of direct pulp capping is to promote pulp healing and mineralized tissue barrier formation by placing a dental biomaterial directly over the exposed pulp. successful application of dental material into the pulp avoids the need for furthur and more extensive treatment.

What is Indirect Pulp capping ?

In i direct pulp capping the protetive dressing or dental filling material is directly placed over the exposed pulp and in indirect pulp capping a thin layer of softened dentin, that if removed would expose the pulp which leads to inlammation and i sleft in place and the protective dessing is placed on pulp.

You must stop the bleeding before putting pulp capping material for two reasons :

1 - The first reason is that if the bleeding doesnot stop easiy there will be severe inflammation of the pulp, and there will not be direct pulp cappig is going to happen then we will have to go through any other treatment like MTA pulpotomy

2 - There must be a respectful seal with any pulp capping material on exposed pulp in order to stop bleeding but if the bleeding does not stop at the exposed pulp then there will be failure of procedure.

HOW TO STOP BLEEDING INSTANTLY

There is studies that suggest that by putting pressure with cotton filled with water or saline on exposed area it will stop the bleeding at once

Another studies suggest that if u put cotton dipped with NAOCL CONCENTRATED .

Nacl should be concentrated as it consist of antibacterial agent, otherwise it can get inflammed pulp  .

Materials used for Direct pulp Capping !

1-ZnO (zinc oxide eugenol) it is most common material used in dentistry

2- Glass and resin modified Glass ionomer

3-Adhesive materials

4-Mineral trioxide aggregiate.

WHAT ARE THE INDICATIONS OF DIRECT PULP CAPPING 

Direct pulp capping is indicated in permanent teeth that has small carries or mechanical exposure in a tooth with normal tooth

The main objective is that the tooth vitality should be maintained. no any post treatment clinical signs or symptoms of sensitivity pain or swelling should be seen.
